Overnight Boarding

Travelers needing a place to unload animals for the night may do so at the Fairgrounds for a fee of $10 per night, per animal. Travelers are expected to pay an addition $15 for power access. Travelers will be invoiced and are expected to pay at time of arrival to the Fairgrounds. Prior approval is required before entering the Fairgrounds as all gates to livestock areas are locked. All stabling at the Fairgrounds is open-air with no cover. For covered horse stalls contact Big Sky Horse Park west of the Fairgrounds at 3500 North Ave. West. To make arrangements please fill out the Livestock Boarding form and waiver and call (406) 830-7855. Livestock boarding requests are only reviewed and accepted before 4:30pm Monday-Friday. Livestock Boarding Form and Waiver is not automatically approved. Fairgrounds staff will call and approve your request, if space is available.

Driving Directions

All exhibitors, racers, contestants, campers and livestock trailers enter the Fairgrounds through Stephens Gate on Stephens Ave. View a map of the gate and the facilities here.

Stalls & Stock Pens

The Fairgrounds offers 200 uncovered stalls, 10 x 10 with wood panel partitions. Only one animal per stall is permitted. A number of stock pens are available with choice of panel or hog wire fencing. Only wood shavings are permitted for bedding. Straw is prohibited. Stall users must provide humane and adequate bedding, feed, water and care for animals. Cleaning fees may apply if stalls are not raked clean and waste removed. Prohibited items include heat lamps, heaters and cookers. Animal owners must maintain and care for all animals in a manner consistent with the standards as established by Missoula County Animal Control. Missoula County Fairgrounds reserves the right to conduct periodic inspections and to contact Missoula County Animal Control as necessary.

Arena & Lights

The arena floor is 330’ x 150’. Arena includes stock pens, secretary’s office, vaulted restrooms, crow’s nest and sound system. Standard equipment includes 10 bucking chutes, roping boxes with roping chute, stripping chute and catch pens. Water truck available onsite. Grooming of the arena is provided only by Missoula County Fairgrounds staff for an additional fee. Only Missoula County Fairgrounds staff shall operate arena lights. The arena shall not be used for animal boarding.

Grandstands

Those who attend Missoula County Fairgrounds’ grandstand events are treated to mountain views on all sides. The grandstands can seat up to 3,200 (2,200 covered seats and 1000 uncovered). Limited ADA seating available. Ticket booths are available by request. Seasonal restrooms and adjoining patio for bar/concessions also available.

Emergency Use

The Fairgrounds serves as a secure holding facility for animals displaced by an emergency such as flooding, severe weather or fire.
