Mutton Bustin’ at the Missoula Stampede

Get ready for one of the most adorable and exciting events at the Missoula Stampede: Mutton Bustin'! This pint-sized rodeo event is a fan favorite, showcasing the bravery and spirit of our youngest cowboys and cowgirls as they take on the challenge of riding a sheep.

What is Mutton Bustin'?

Mutton Bustin' is a thrilling rodeo event where children try to ride a sheep for as long as possible, just like the big rodeo stars ride bulls or broncos. It's a fun, safe, and unforgettable experience for kids and a delight for spectators of all ages.

How It Works

  • Rider Eligibility: To ensure the safety and fairness of the event, riders must be under 60 pounds.

  • Safety Gear: All riders will be provided with safety gear, including helmets and vests, to protect them during their ride.

  • Rider Limit: Each night of the rodeo (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, August 6-9th), we can accommodate a maximum of 10 riders.

  • Pre-Registration: Due to the popularity and limited slots, pre-registration is mandatory. This ensures your child has a chance to participate and helps us prepare for a safe and enjoyable experience.

  • Adult Chaperone: Each young rider must be accompanied by an adult chaperone to assist and support them during the event.
