General Exhibiting GUIDELINES
Open to purebred (official breed registration papers not required) and crossbred sheep.
Each exhibitor can enter up to two (2) entries/animals per class number. Entry fees must be paid at the time of entry.
All open class sheep must be tagged with an official scrapie ID tag to be exhibited at the Fair. The scrapie ID will be required at time of entry. Untagged sheep will not be allowed on the grounds. To order tags, call toll free 866-873-2824.
No animal may receive champion placing unless there is competition. Breed classes may be combined at Superintendent discretion based on a (low) number of entries.
First and second place animals from each division may compete for Champion and Reserve Champion if there is competition of breeder against breeder.
All Champion and Reserve Champions, from each division, may come back to compete for Overall Champion and Reserve Champion, ram and ewe.
Exhibitors are expected to dress in appropriate showmanship attire.
Exhibitors must be 9 years old by September 28, 2025 or accompanied by an adult at all times in order to show in open class.
4-H and FFA members are encouraged to enter in open class, if open class guidelines are met. 4-H and FFA members must register and pay the open class entry fees online by the entry deadline in order to show in open class.
You must complete all online steps to reserve your pens/stalls! You’ll find stall reservations under Step 3 of the online entry process. If showing the same animal in 4-H/FFA and Open Class – select the appropriate stall reservation type so as to avoid duplicating stalls between 4-H & FFA.
NOTE: Open Class Sheep exhibitors have the option to Show & Go on the show day of August 6, 2025. If you intend to Show & Go, no pens will be available for your use. You must groom at your trailer or use the designated space available for grooming and leave immediately after the show. If you intend to Show & Go, you must contact the Sheep Superintendents listed above upon registration for approval and final instructions for accessing the Fairgrounds on show day. No vehicles are permitted to enter the Fairgrounds from Russell Street or South Avenue. Only the Stephen’s Avenue entrance can be used to bring in livestock. No trailer parking is allowed by the livestock barns.
